Straits Trading back in the black with S$16.8m Q3 profit

THE Straits Trading Company swung back into the black with a third-quarter net profit of S$16.8 million, compared with a loss of S$7 million in the previous year, the group said in a Singapore Exchange filing on Friday.

Revenue for the three months ended Sept 30, 2016, fell 18 per cent to S$113.4 million from the preceding year.

Earnings per share were 4.1 Singapore cents, a reversal from a loss per share of 1.7 Singapore cents in the previous year. Net asset value per share edged up to S$3.28 Singapore cents as at Sept 30, from S$3.18 as at nine months ago.

The counter closed S$0.005 or 0.3 per cent higher at S$1.995 on Friday.
