Starwood Hotels and Resorts to open first hotel at Asia Square

Starwood Hotels and Resorts will be the first to open a hotel at Marina Bay’s Asia Square, located at Singapore’s newest financial district.

In a release, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, which owns the Westin brand, said the hotel will be operational end 2013.

The hotel, occupying over 300,000 square feet, will offer 306 rooms.

The rooms will take up 15 storeys (32nd to 46th floors) of Asia Square Tower 2.

The hotel will also provide other facilities like restaurants, meeting rooms and spa.

Matthew Fry, Westin Hotels & Resorts Acquisitions & Development Senior Vice President, said: “We are delighted to establish Westin’s presence in Singapore and at a landmark development like Asia Square. The Westin brand continues to be a market leader in many established and emerging markets throughout Asia Pacific.

“With Asia Square’s prime location and excellent amenities, coupled with our distinctive wellness positioning, we are certain of delivering a world-class hotel that will redefine the Marina Bay precinct. We look forward to working in partnership with Asia Square to re-introduce the Westin brand to Singapore.”

Asia Square said the hotel will provide high quality accommodation and state-of-the-art business facilities to meet the needs of discerning business and leisure travellers.

Asia Square Tower 1 is slated for completion in June next year while Tower 2 is targeted to complete in 2013.

Other Asia Square tenants to date include Citi Bank, Swiss private banking group Julius Baer, and insurance giant Lloyd’s.
