S’pore Expo to build new space

Singapore Expo will develop new meeting facilities at Singapore’s largest purpose-built meetings, incentive, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) venue.

The new Max Atria @ Singapore Expo is due to complete in early 2012. It will feature 23 new meeting rooms and spacious pre-function areas, adding some 8,000 square metres of space to Singapore Expo’s inventory.

The existing space at Singapore Expo will be refurbished and also a new wing will be added to create Max Atria. The total cost for all this is estimated to be around $55 million to $60 million, part of which will be funded by the government.

Max Atria will incorporate green elements and the new wing will be built in line with the Building & Construction Authority’s Green Mark Platinum standard.

Max Atria will also be fitted with modern audio-visual, lighting and technical capabilities, enhancing the venue’s functionality and versatility in hosting a multitude of events. There will also be new restrooms, lifts and escalators.

The development is expected to give Singapore Expo an edge in bidding for multi-dimensional events and tradeshows which require adjoining areas for complementary activities. In addition to conferences, corporate meetings and break-out sessions, Max Atria will also be well-suited for plenary sessions, product launches, award ceremonies as well as banquets and receptions.

Singapore Expo now has over 123,000 sq m of indoor and outdoor space.
