The number of visitors to Singapore hit a record high in July.Visitor arrivals jumped by 4% compared to a year ago to hit 913,000 – the first time it has breached the 900,000 barrier. It is also highest visitor arrival figure ever recorded in a single month.Visitors from Indonesia led the pack with 192,000, followed by China (113,000), Australia (66,000), India (53,000) and Japan (52,000).
They account for 52% of total visitor arrivals for July.
Meanwhile, the average occupancy rates for hotels also hit a record high at 91% as average room rates jumped 18.7% from a year ago to S$160.
The Singapore Tourism Board says the July figures were boosted by the school holidays and the Great Singapore Sale.
Singapore gazetted hotels recorded S$133.5 million in room revenue in July, an increase of 24% over July 2005.
For the first six months of the year, tourist arrivals hit 4.7 million, up 11.8% on-year.
The STB expects to meet its visitor arrivals target of 9.4 million for the full year.
