Singapore has emerged second for nightlife and dining in the second annual Country Brand Index 2006.Singapore was unranked in the previous survey but it now beats countries such as the United States, UK and Thailand.
Singapore also ranked second in the world for shopping, while the United States took the top spot for retail.
The Country Brand Index shows Singapore continues to retain its attractiveness as a country for conducting businesses and conferences, rising six notches from last year to being the third most preferred convention destination.
Singapore also made the top 10 list for being an ideal country to do business in.
The Country Brand Index is developed by FutureBrand, a global brand consultancy, in conjunction with the public relations firm Weber Shandwick’s Global Travel Practice.
Global Travel Practice is a global study of more than 1,500 international travellers, travel industry experts and hospitality professionals and it examines how countries can be branded and ranked according to key criteria.
The Country Brand Index was released at the World Travel Market in London.
Singapore has made it within the list of top 10 country brands in nine of the 20 categories.
