Other winners for the same category include Laguna Resorts & Hotels of Thailand and PT Lippo Karawaci of Indonesia.

In another award category, Banyan Tree Holdings’ Executive Chairman Ho Kwon Ping was named Real Estate Personality of the Year for South East Asia.

Mr Ho said for the real estate industry, countries suffering the sharpest economic slowdowns are possibly where opportunities are hidden.

Mr Ho said: “Given the current market conditions in certain areas, there are huge opportunities to be made. For example, I think there are huge opportunities in Europe, in the UK and probably in the US itself for real estate investment. I think the smart money is going in that direction, towards tangible real estate assets that are going to be very good for long time to come. They are currently under priced.”
