There has been a positive response to the JTC LaunchPad initiative. The first startup hub at Block 71 Ayer Rajah Crescent is already oversubscribed, said Minister of State for Trade and Industry Mr Teo Ser Luck on Monday (Sep 22) while touring local engineering startup Hope Technik.
Mr Teo added that more than 90 per cent of available space will be occupied by the time the hub is ready.
“We are very happy and are overwhelmed by the responses so far and LaunchPad will be a very exciting startup ecosystem that we built within that, and it will be a very exciting location for all the startups to be in,” Mr Teo said.
Hope Technik develops technologies meant to serve market segments of military, para-military and first responders. The startup showcased its “unmanned” and “special” vehicles. Among the highlights of the tour was the “Red-Rhino Light Fire Truck”, which was designed and manufactured for the Singapore Civil Defence Force.
