The Old Admiralty House at Old Nelson Road in Sembawang, is likely to be developed into a boarding school.
A private school, FIS Institute won the bid from the Singapore Land Authority (SLA) in late May.
But renovations are being delayed as the school is awaiting approval to build an extension building.
For this land area, FIS Institute has to pay a monthly rent of about S$150,000.
The tenure is for three years and is renewable.
Previously, a private operator ran a country club business, but it did not take off.
FIS Institute said it finds the place is suitable as a boarding school due to its location and greenery.
The school has three branches in Singapore, with foreign students studying for ‘O’ and ‘A’ Levels.
FIS Institute hopes to start operations at the Old Admiralty House by January next year.
