New space for online content creators to hone their skills

Online content creators will have a new space, called Creators’ Space, to learn, experiment, collaborate and hone their skills. The space is located at PIXEL in one-north, said Communications and Information Minister Yaacob Ibrahim on Wednesday (Dec 2).

Announced at the launch of the Singapore Media Festival and the opening of the Asia TV Forum and Market, Dr Yaacob said Creators’ Space will offer programmes and resources in the key areas of online video content creation, digital services, technology and platforms for budding content creators in Singapore.

“We have partnered leading media companies such as Maker Studios, online video platform Dailymotion, 3D rendering experts Autodesk and editing company Adobe Systems to organise programmes for our creators to learn about the finer points of online video production,” he added.

The minister also announced that the Media Development Authority (MDA) will partner cable television network HBO to train Singapore’s media professionals to produce high quality dramas for an international audience.

Under the partnership, HBO Asia will organise training programmes led by experienced international practitioners over two years, helping local talent develop a wide range of skills from development to delivery.

Ms Angeline Poh, Assistant Chief Executive Officer (Industry Group), MDA, said in a press release on Wednesday: “We are excited to launch this partnership with HBO Asia to grow the pool of drama production talent in Singapore. Through the partnership, promising producers will have the opportunity to work with industry veterans to develop dramas for international audiences.”

The cable TV network produced hit dramas such as the locally-produced Grace and Australian-Singapore production Serangoon Road.
