There will be more sports-related developments around the upcoming Sports Hub. This was revealed to the media in a briefing by the Singapore Sports Council on Vision 2030.
The initiative was announced recently to develop sports from the ground up, with the aim of getting the public involved.
The council said feedback has been collated into three main thrusts – using sports to be future ready, as a means of community bonding, and to ignite the passion of the people as a nation.
One of the proposals is to expand sports facilities around the Sports Hub, which is expected to be completed by April 2014. These include facilities like a mid-sized stadium and a tennis academy.
Acting Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports, Mr Chan Chun Sing, said: “We are now in the process of consolidating those ideas, organising those ideas and trying to also prioritise some of those ideas, so that we can have a roadmap worked out for the coming few years with a longer term vision in mind.
“What we can expect is by the time the budget debates is done next year, probably early part of next year, we will have the preliminary proposals ready for public consumption.”
