Mapletree Investments has broken ground for its VivoCity Nanhai in Guangdong, China.
The four-storey shopping mall is slated to open in 2014 and will have a gross floor area of more than 100,000 square metres.
It is part of the proposed 42-hectare Nanhai Business City developed by Mapletree that will feature retail, residential, hotel and office components.
Nanhai is where the cities of Foshan and Guangzhou are located.

“The groundbreaking of VivoCity Nanhai is significant for us as it marks Mapletree’s second VivoCity in China to date”.
The first VivoCity in China had its soft opening in Xi’an last April.
Mapletree said the VivoCity Nanhai will target local consumer and retail trends and will offer a mix of retail, leisure and entertainment possibilities for Foshan.
The groundbreaking ceremony for VivoCity Nanhai was graced by Singapore’s Minister for Transport and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs Lui Tuck Yew.
