Las Vegas Sands chief executive officer Sheldon Adelson said he is lobbying to get more land from the Singapore government to expand its profitable integrated resort in Singapore.
Mr Adelson told reporters at the opening of the Marina Bay Sands (MBS) that the meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibition (MICE) business has been overwhelming and more land space would be needed.
“Otherwise we may have to ask for six month or a year’s booking in advance,” he said.
The company’s management also said that the hunt for a new CEO for Marina Bay Sands is going ahead as planned but they “wont rush” the process.
A report on the search for a new CEO is expected tomorrow from the US headquarters, said Las Vegas Sands chief operating officer Michael Leven.
“The search is going on as scheduled and we are happy with the progress. The interim CEO is doing a good job and we won’t rush the process,” said Mr Leven.
About 11 million visitors have been to MBS since its opening in April last year.
