The first multi-tenanted development in Singapore hosting an integrated ecosystem of companies in the surface engineering industry, the JTC Surface Engineering Hub, was officially opened on Thursday (Oct 9).
The S$59 million hub sits on a 1.9-hectare site at the newly-redeveloped Tanjong Kling estate. A key feature is its centralised wastewater treatment plant, which helps companies involved in surface engineering activities reduce space requirements, operational costs and upfront capital investment.
At the opening, Trade and Industry Minister Lim Hng Kiang said: “As Singapore continues to grow key manufacturing industry clusters, such as aerospace, clean technology, offshore marine and logistics, we must continue to find creative ways to overcome our land constraints. One strategy is to achieve higher land productivity by redeveloping areas with lower intensity use. Tanjong Kling exemplifies this approach”.
