HDB flat resale prices down 1.6% in 2015

Resale prices for flats fell 1.6 per cent for the whole of 2015, according to data released by the Housing and Development Board (HDB) on Friday (Jan 22).

The Resale Price Index (RPI) for the fourth quarter came in at 134.8, up just 0.1 per cent from the previous quarter’s 134.6, HDB said.

The index provides information on the general price movements in the resale public housing market.

Resale transactions for the year rose 11.5 per cent, with 19,306 units resold, HDB said. The number of transactions for the fourth quarter was 4,992, up 2 per cent from 4,893 units in the third quarter.

As of Dec 31, 2015, a total of 50,264 HDB flats were sublet, an increase of 0.9 per cent from the third quarter. The number of applications approved for subletting rose 6 per cent, from 10,018 units in the third quarter to 10,618 in the fourth quarter.

The HDB plans to launch about 18,000 flats this year in four Build-To-Order (BTO) exercises. The first BTO exercise will be held in February, where about 4,150 flats in Bidadari, Bukit Batok and Sengkang will be offered, HDB said.
