An icon in Katong will soon undergo a transformation.
The former Tanjong Katong Girls’ School building is being tendered out by the Singapore Land Authority (SLA).
Three separate buildings linked by a covered walkway stand on an area spanning 23,000 square metres.
SLA says some of the acceptable uses for the area are a specialist school, hostel or tuition centre.
But it stresses that since these buildings have been gazetted for conservation, potential tenants will have to be careful to retain all structural elements and keep within its guidelines.
SLA adds that such purpose-built places can help tenants gets their operations up-and-running sooner and at lower start-up costs.
The estimated monthly rent is just over $55,000.
Former school buildings have been adapted and re-used for other purposes in the past, such as the former Rangoon Primary School, which is now occupied by the Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society.
