First time applicants who applied for Build-to-Order (BTO) flats stand a good chance of getting their flats in the latest bumper launch of 8,200 flats.
That’s because the BTO application rate is 1.7 this time round, which according to National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan in his latest blog entry, means first-time applicants will get a chance to select their flats.
He had said earlier that a BTO application rate of below 2.0 will mean that almost all first-time applicants will be successful as not all who are invited to book a flat will do so.
Mr Khaw also said in his blog on Monday, “Let me congratulate the couples in advance”.
Giving details, the Minister said 15,500 of the 27,900 applicants for the September bumper launch of BTO and Sale of Balance Flats (SBF) were first timers.
Of these 9,500 applications were for 5,400 BTO flats with 95 per cent of the flats set aside for first-timers.
The Minister said those who are not successful this round, can look forward to another launch of 4,200 flats in November and next year.
He also revealed that the application rate was highest at 6.0, for three-room flats at Yio Chu Kang Vista at Ang Mo Kio.
The application rate for five-room flats at Punggol Waterway Brooks and Waterway Woodcress was 2.7, while a three-room flat in the same area was also in demand with an application rate of 2.6.
In all other areas, the application rate was below 2.0.
