CapitaLand Residential chief executive officer Wong Heang Fine has been appointed the new president of the Real Estate Developers’ Association of Singapore (REDAS).
Sources say that this followed Amara Holdings CEO Albert Teo’s decision to decline the position.
Mr Wong will be president for the REDAS management committee term of 2011 and 2012, taking over from Mr Simon Cheong, the chairman of SC Global Developments.
Before joining CapitaLand in 2006, Mr Wong was president and CEO of Sembcorp Engineers and Constructors.
He became CEO of CapitaLand Residential in July 2010.
He also has broad experience in the leisure and entertainment industries, having previously been CEO of Cathay Organisation Holdings. He also held senior positions in Singapore Technologies Industrial Corporation and the Economic Development Board of Singapore.
Mr Wong holds a Master of Science in Engineering Production & Management from the University of Birmingham and a First Class Honours, Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, from the University of Leeds.
